NNS PROGRAMS
2's Program

As the youngest members of the Nassau Nursery School community, the 2s enjoy days filled with free play, socialization, stories, art, crafts, music and yoga. Their curriculum is based upon the four seasons and the changes that they experience in the natural world around them. Making friends, singing songs, reading stories and playing outside are a few of the many highlights of the 2's NNS experience.
3's Program

Like the 2s, the 3s explore the four seasons yet with greater emphasis on hands-on interaction with nature. Working together planting seeds, baking bread, picking apples and pumpkins, hatching butterflies, bird-watching and much more, the 3s are instilled with a love of learning and a deep respect for family, friends and the natural world. The introduction of colors, letters, shapes and names, coupled with art, crafts, music, yoga and outdoor play, provide a loving and rich 3's program.
JK Program

With the four seasons as the curriculum backdrop, the Junior Kindergartners work toward mastering such academic concepts as letters, numbers, colors, shapes, names, calendar-words and more. Developing these concepts and other cognitive skills such as hand-writing, sequencing, problem solving and scientific charting, all work to prepare our JKers for the Kindergarten year ahead. Daily outdoor play, art, crafts, music, yoga and field trips round out the deeply nurturing and stimulating JK experience.
Class Trips:
Our class trips have included various nearby attractions, including the local Princeton airport, Terhune Orchards, Lee's Turkey Farm, Windsor Farm, the nature center at Stony Brook Millstone Watershed, Princeton Public Library, The Off Broadstreet Theatre in Hopewell, Princeton University, the "Dinky" train, grocery stores, strawberry picking and many more. Parents and teachers provide transportation.
Special Programs:
Super Tuesdays: Three times during the year, the 3s and JK children are invited to stay for lunch and the afternoon to participate in special arts and crafts projects. Each six-week session culminates with a final masterpiece or play, complete with costumes and scenery made by the children.
Book Club Mondays: Twice a year, the JK children are invited to stay for lunch and the afternoon for a special book reading, along with related arts and crafts. Designed for our oldest children, each three-week program further stimulates their interest in learning to read themselves.
Flexible Schedule Options:
Early Drop-Off: Children may be dropped off before the regular driveway drop-off, starting at 8:30am. Parents accompany the child downstairs and into the 3's classroom. The fee for this early morning day care is $6.
Extended Afternoon Options: To sign a child up to stay for lunch (until 1pm), the school must receive 24 hours notice. Children may spend lunch hour or additional afternoon time (up until 3pm) for an additional $10.00 per hour, as long as space is available and arrangements have been made with the school 24 hours in advance. Alternatively, families may elect to contract for afternoons on a regular basis for a slightly reduced hourly fee. Participation in any afternoon programs (including lunch) is contingent upon the child being fully toilet trained.
